A Closer Look at the Rotman MBA Class of 2015!

Niki da SilvaLast month we officially welcomed the Full-Time MBA Class of 2015 to Rotman!  This class is one I am especially connected to as it was the first cohort I have been involved with from the start of the admissions cycle and it was fantastic to see the group together at Orientation in September 🙂

We have spent a few weeks compiling the class data and benchmarking and I am pleased and proud to report that our class is officially the largest (intake size of 350), most divese (49% international with 33 countries of citizenship represented) with the highest GMAT  (according to GMAT average of 674 and median of 680) in Canada! The full profile is posted on our website and included here:

This amazing and accomplished group includes students from a range of industries and functions at global firms and Canadian institutions including Deloitte, Secor, CapGemini, Accenture, PWC, Mercer, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, P&G, Bayer, SunLife, Canadian Tire, Honeywell, ROM, Canadian Olympics, Ford, Honda, Indigo, Suncor, and Starbucks.  I can only imagine how rich the classroom discussion would be based on the collective experience of the group!

There are also numerous examples of students with unique experiences that will most definitely contribute to discussion at Rotman from a diverse “lens” – a sample include a neuroscientist, a medical doctor from Nigeria, a classical music conductor, a racecar driver, a pharmacist, a vet from Russia, a dentist from South Africa, two teachers, a number of entrepreneurs, and even a nationally ranked soccer player!  We truly value individualism at Rotman and these students have a significant and positive influence on the Rotman experience.

This tremendous diversity is a necessary component for us to deliver on the Integrative Thinking experience in the Program.  Being exposed to talented and ambitious students who bring countless different experiences to the classroom ensures that Rotman students will have their thinking challenged and be exposed to new ideas and perspectives through classroom discussions, study teams, case competitions, clubs and the countless other opportunities to connect with one another.  It is a rare and valuable opportunity to expand your network and your critical thinking simultaneously – one that Rotman students find significant value in.

We are really proud of this class, and look forward to following what are sure to be amazing accomplishments and achievements  by each student at Rotman – I can envision where their paths may lead on convocation day and can’t wait to see their unique MBA journeys unfold.

As you probably know if you have been following the School, this is the second year of our growth strategy as we continue our slow and steady treak to an annual intake of 400 students.  So as we welcome one group, we are just weeks away from our first official deadline to kick of the 2014 admissions cycle – and we look forward to learning about the candidates we will welcome next fall!
