Announcing the Rotman Problem Solving Challenge! Mark Your Calendars: April 12th & 13th

NikiAs many MBA-bound individuals discover in their research, there are a plethora of case competitions, business plan challenges, etc. for MBA students. But those are nothing like what we are launching at Rotman today! On April 12th and 13th we will be hosting the first ever Rotman Problem Solving Challenge – an opportunity for incoming and potential Rotman MBA students to experience our unique approach to problem solving.

In true Rotman form (we are proud of our reputation for doing things differently :)) we want our prospective and newly admitted MBA candidates to roll up their sleeves and get some hands-on learning done five months before the program starts! You will be asked to frame, analyze and solve a problem during a multi-day event while guided through the experience by Rotman faculty and student mentors.

We wanted to do more than your standard “New Student Weekend” or Open House and run an event where MBA-bound students can get a real taste of the Rotman experience, interact with potential future classmates, and start building an MBA skillset in a number of areas. But the most exciting part is that we are offering up some serious prize money! The top three individuals with the highest cumulative scores will receive the following:

  • First place wins a full tuition scholarship valued at $87,500
  • Second place wins a $40,000 scholarship
  • Third place wins a $15,000 scholarship

Additional $1,000 scholarship prizes will be awarded to participants with the highest scores in each of the following categories:

  • Top Individual Submission
  • Top Individual Presentation
  • Top Team Presentation (will be awarded to all team members)

A wide variety of people will be on hand to offer advice and cheer you on, ranging from Rotman staff, faculty and students to alumni and corporate recruiters! This makes the Problem Solving Challenge a perfect way to get a cross section of the Rotman community. The weekend will close with a cocktail reception to celebrate the achievements of everyone involved, give you chance to connect and discuss the experience, and announce the winners.

I am very excited about this initiative and hope to see lots of candidates registered to particpate as I’m sure it will prove to be an invaluable experience!
