7th Annual “Best in Class” Case Competition

The Financial Executives International Canada, invites the Rotman School of Management to its 7th Annual “Best in Class” Case Competition. This competition is an invitation-only real time environment business situation and crisis resolution based on an existing company.  Use this opportunity to showcase your strategic and integrative thinking talents to top Strategy and Finance executives with increased opportunity to be considered for summer and full-time recruitment placements.  1st Round submissions are due to GBCCompetitions in PDF format by October 5th, 2012.

Case Type:  Rotman Invitation Only – 1 team of 4 members (+1 Reserve Member) selected by Rotman Competition Committee will compete in the 7th Annual “Best in Class” Invitational MBA Case Competition.  This will be a team 2-day case, 2 round case competition held on November 16-17, 2012.

Rotman Faculty Advisor: Professor Jan Mahrt-Smith, Erin Miller

Important Dates: First Round due October 5 @ 1:00 PM. Interviews October 16. Competition, November 16-17, 2012.

1st Round Submission Requirements: Resume, Letter of Intent/Cover Letter and 2 Page elevator pitch (+ 1 page appendix) submitted as 1 PDF document to sample case provided by GBC Competitions through Prof Jan Mahrt-Smith.  Please email GBC Competition for interest and access to the case.  First Round will be individual.

2nd Round Submission Requirements:  Selected candidates will be invited for an interview (roughly 25 min) for a presentation on your analysis and general interest.   Finalists will be composed into team of 4 (+1 Alternate) to compete at Ryerson University Ted Rogers School of Business with dinner gala to follow.  Finalist will be notified by October 18.

**8-12 hours of mandatory training and coaching for final rounds to be provided by Prof. Jan Mahrt-Smith (includes research, preparation and practice).  **

3rd Round Submission Requirements: Finalists will compete on November 16-17 at Ryerson University Ted Rogers School of Business with food and accommodation provided. Selected members must attend all events on November 16-17, 2012 including Award Gala on November 17, 2012.

Cash Prizes include $10,000 for 1st Place, $5,000 for 2nd Place and $2,500 for 3rd Place
Finalists will also receive commendation letter from the Rotman School of Management
All participants will be invited to attend networking dinner with executives and judges for Award Gala
