Coming on the heels of the successful Som Seif event, the Rotman Finance Association is pleased to host the next round of the RFA Speaker Series: Mark Leonard. This event is also being sponsored by REVCA.
Mark Leonard is founder, President and Chairman of the Board of Constellation Software Inc. (CSI). He founded publicly-traded CSI (TSX:CSU.to) in 1995 with an initial investment of $25m and grew it into Canada’s largest software company with a market capitalization of ~$12b. Since its IPO in 2006, Constellation has produced an astounding ~45% annual return and ~3,000% total return to shareholders. The conglomerate is an acquirer, manager and builder of vertical market software businesses and has been called one of Canada’s best acquirers of the decade. CSI achieved its success through a disciplined value-oriented investment strategy, operational best practices and a focus on long-term shareholder value creation. Prior to founding Constellation, Mark worked as a venture capitalist for 11 years and by his own account as “a banker, valuator, mason, gravedigger, dog handler, bouncer, sapper and wind energy researcher.”
Mark is a well-known and applauded individual on Bay Street, but is infamous for his policy of not speaking to the media or in public circles. In April 2014, The Globe & Mail wrote: “In this age of zero privacy, Mark Leonard has managed to maintain a practically unthinkable level of anonymity for just about any individual—let alone for an IT executive who runs one of Canada’s most dynamic, fastest-growing and most acquisitive software companies, and who has been compared favourably with Warren Buffet and Prem Watsa.”
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see one of Canada’s most successful investors speak off the record about his experiences and views on the world today.
