In this edition of Rotman Spotlight, we chatted with Kavita Nayar, the brains behind the GBC Buddy Program, which aims to pair first year students with savvy second years for just a bit of guidance to navigate business school life.

KAVITA NAYAR

1. Who are you?

I’m Kavita Nayar, the GBC Buddy Program Manager and am in the 2014 FT class.

I worked in the retail industry in supply chain management and then marketing before coming back to school for my MBA. This summer I was a consultant at Rotman NeXus Consulting.

2. Why did you join the GBC and what is your mission for the 2013-2014 school year?

I had a great experience as a Social Representative last year and wanted to definitely keep involved with the GBC in second year. My buddy last year was amazing and really helped me get through the year. Whenever I needed any advice or support she was more than happy to be there, even in the midst of her hectic schedule. I want to ensure that every first year has a supportive, positive and consistent Upper Year buddy, just like I did.

3. What is your favourite thing about the Rotman experience?

My favorite thing about the Rotman experience is the amazing and talented group of people that I meet every day. I have learnt and continue to learn so much from them, and have also made some incredible friendships.
