You\u2019re expected to become a \u201cstudent\u201d of your target industry and functions, and these sheets will help you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal network<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speak to your relatives, friends, former colleagues and classmates, part-time students, alumni, etc. Ask members of your network if they have contacts in your target industry, companies and roles they could introduce you to. (Do some online research first so you come across as prepared.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rotman student clubs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join clubs that focus on specific industries and job functions, such as the Management Consulting Association (MCA), Rotman Finance Association (RFA) and Rotman Marketing Association (RMA).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Special events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Attend Rotman Speaker Series, club events, board of trade events and others related to your target industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rotman\u2019s Milt Harris Library<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The library is a rich source of information about industries and companies. You\u2019ll find many helpful databases and webpages, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotman.utoronto.ca\/faculty-and-research\/milt-harris-library\/student-resources\/career-guides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Career Guides page<\/a>, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to search for public and private companies by industry or location<\/li>\n<li>Job seekers\u2019 guides for selected industries<\/li>\n<li>Databases by subject<\/li>\n<li>Links to periodicals<\/li>\n<li>Company rankings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For Rotman graduate students only, we also have <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.rotman.utoronto.ca\/career-services\/job-search-strategies\/company-pages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">company pages<\/a> to help with interview preparation (requires log-in with your Rotman ID). The majority of the companies listed are public, as there is limited information available for private companies. Please contact one of our <a href=\"mailto:mhlstaff@rotman.utoronto.ca?subject=Research%20help\">librarians<\/a> for any research assistance you may require.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Online job postings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To find job postings, search by company or keyword on sites like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.indeed.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indeed.ca<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a>. To determine common job requirements, study postings for the same role at multiple companies to understand what the market is looking for. Copy job postings into a Word document, a note-taking app or Google Docs so you can refer to them later. (Don\u2019t just save the links \u2014 the postings could disappear.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.rotman.utoronto.ca\/DashboardTools\/CareerServices\/HelperApps\/GetProtectedFile.ashx?f=Full+Time+Opportunities+posted+on+RCareer+-+June+2023-July+2025.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Full Time Opportunities<\/a> posted on RCareer is a report that helps students determine what type of companies and roles they can find on RCareer all year round.
