However, consider volunteering at a hospital or community organization to gain these experiences which will be very important in the interview process.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the healthcare system in which you are conducting your job search, including current key challenges faced by senior leaders.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to articulate your interest in the sector. Why do you want to work in healthcare and life sciences?<\/li>\n<li>Strong business skills relevant to the functional area you are interested in. Try to include a healthcare-oriented project or assignment when completing the coursework in this area.\u00a0 For example, design a launch strategy for a new drug for your marketing class if you are interested in a marketing role at J&amp;J.\u00a0 Or, consider an independent study project or internship in this area to build your portfolio and help you decide if it is the right fit.<\/li>\n<li>Strong time management skills \u2013 roles in healthcare often require juggling multiple competing priorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;]\n<blockquote class=\"qodef-blockquote-shortcode\"  >\n\t<h4 class=\"qodef-blockquote-text\">\n\t<span>Skills required<\/span>\n\t<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>[vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Healthcare and life sciences companies have all functional areas, so you can use your experience in other sectors to position yourself favourably for a role in this sector.
