Hailey Koo

President

Hailey's passion for the media and entertainment industry started from exploring diverse types of content during undergraduate. Her love for music, film, drama, concerts, and photography gives her the energy to pursue a career path in the industry. Hailey spent 6 years in the media industry in Seoul, Korea, 5 years of which she spent in CJ ENM as a global campaign planner working mainly with K-POP and the last year before Rotman as the global content strategy manager at Sandbox Network. Hailey hopes to share her passion for content with the Rotman community and bring career opportunities to students interested in the industry.

Alvaro Darquea

VP Finance

Alvaro's interest in the entertainment and media industry was something that developed over the years. Since he was a child, he was always attracted to the creative side of television programming and loved all content with cultural and nature-related content, so much so that his dream is to one day work in content development at National Geographic. When he arrived in Canada his curiosity for the industry grew as he saw it's advanced development compared to Latin America and the wide range of opportunities it offers. Opportunities not only on the content production, broadcasting, and project development side but also for professionals from finance and marketing backgrounds, offering the chance to dive into this fast-paced, growing industry.

Katelyn Yang

VP Industry Relations

Katelyn’s passion for the media industry started as a young girl. She studied communications as an undergraduate and worked as a brand communications consultant at CJ ENM, the biggest media company in Korea. Katelyn enjoys watching all kinds of movies, but especially Christmas movies. She is excited to bring her expertise in the media industry to help people interested in the industry at Rotman.

Sydney Kereluik

VP Communications

Sydney is excited be a part of the EMA and to help incoming students immerse into the entertainment and media industry. She grew up competing in dance and sports, which fostered her passion for entertainment. She’s a huge movie fanatic, her favorites include the Back to the Future trilogy and the Marvel movies which she'll gladly re-watch 100 times.

Her professional background includes finance, economics, and agri-tech.

Marcela Castillo

VP Events

Marcela truly enjoy watching sports in all their forms. She enjoys both watching the game on TV and cheering on her favorite team at the stadium. The adrenaline and staging involved in entertaining fans during game time have charmed her for years in this industry. Definitely a unique experience!

Rosanna Chan

Podcast Host

Rosanna is a serial podcast listener and a naturally inquisitive person. She is excited to co-host the Rotman Podcast and enable students with information from industry leaders, admissions, and faculty to navigate their Rotman experience. She loves identifying Toronto landmarks in TV shows and films- luckily, she lives in an area of Toronto where productions are occurring every week!

Her professional background includes healthcare in the public sector.

Hunter Christensen

1st Year Rep

Hunter was born in London, Ontario and has lived in B.C., Alberta, Philadelphia, and New Zealand. After completing his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Film at UofT, he joined the Director’s Guild of Canada and became an Assistant Director. Over the past five years, Hunter has worked on many of the big-budget projects that have filmed in Toronto including Shazam!, The Boys, IT 2, and The Man From Toronto. He hopes to eventually transition into the business side of the film industry; he has a particular interest in content development. His short-term, post-MBA goal is to work in consulting to bolster his business experience and continue learning.

 

Shambhavi Mehrotra

1st Year Rep

A content buff & movie maniac, Shambhavi found her feet in the media industry right at the onset of her professional life. With over 5 years of working with leading news houses in India and working on multiple digital media products, she wants to channel this passion for the creative business at Rotman, and that's what you'll find her doing at the EMA. Not only is Shambhavi a content hog, but also a creator. You can find her with exhibits on her social media and without a doubt reach out to her for "what to watch" recommendations and creative ideas!

 

Ashley Mann

1st Year Rep

Ashley is a part of the Rotman Morning/Evening MBA program, and works full-time as a Senior Tech Analyst at TD, providing internal management consulting on Agile delivery. When she’s not at Rotman or work, Ashley’s creating art, travelling or watching movies. She’s looking forward to bringing her love of television and film to EMA!

Kevin Yoon

As a pianist, holding a Master of Music under the direction of one of the top pedagogues in Canada, Kevin is able to transfer unique insights from his experiences as a performer and coach, into the business world. He has found success as an artist, and has driven growth through ventures as an entrepreneur and a trusted advisor. Holding an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, with a dual specialization in Leadership and Change Management, and Brand Management, Kevin brings forth creativity and versatility to his role as a Strategy Consultant at Simplii Financial.

Margaret Lewis

As a current Project Manager for Corus Entertainment, Margaret is an experienced leader in the consumer facing industry working for some of the world's most recognized brands, Target & FedEx. With a long-standing passion for film and television, Margaret has had experiences with TIFF, NBCUniversal, and most recently was a CMPA Diversity Mentor Trainee with Conquering Lion Pictures in Toronto. Having graduated from the Rotman MBA in 2018, where she was the President of the Rotman Entertainment Media Association, Margaret looks to build a career in bringing the best in diverse and inclusive stories to the screens and behind the scenes.
