Join us to learn from Professor Hull and Professor Nesbitt, and update your knowledge of how regulatory changes are shaping the financial landscape, and what they mean for evolving practices in the industry and your career.
About the speakers:
Professor John Hull is the Maple Financial Professor of Derivatives and Risk Management at Rotman. His research has an applied focus and is concerned with risk management, bank regulation, and valuation of derivatives. He is best known for his books Risk Management and Financial Institutions (now in its 3rd edition), Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives (now in its 9th edition), and Fundamentals of Futures and Options Markets (now in its 8th edition). His books have been translated into many languages and are widely used in trading rooms throughout the world, as well as in the classroom.
Professor Richard Nesbitt is an Adjunct Professor of the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. In addition he is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Mind Brain Behaviour Hive, University of Toronto.
Professor Nesbitt was Chief Operating Officer, CIBC until he retired from that position in September 2014.. In this role, he was responsible for the global operations of Wholesale Banking, Technology and Operations, Strategy and Corporate Development, CIBC’s International Operations, including CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, and Treasury.
Professor Nesbitt joined CIBC in 2008 following his more than 20 years of experience in the securities industry. From 2004 to 2008 he was Chief Executive Officer of TSX Group having joined TSX as President of TSX Markets in 2001. Prior to joining the company in 2001, Professor Nesbitt served as President and Chief Operating Officer of BayStreetDirect Inc., an Internet based investment dealer. Before that Professor Nesbitt was President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Securities Canada for three years, after having worked for 10 years at CIBC Wood Gundy. He has also worked with Mobil Oil Canada Ltd., for five years and spent two years as a Lecturer at The University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business.
Professor Nesbitt holds a M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an MBA from the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management and a B.A. (Honours) in Business Administration from The University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business.
Professor Nesbitt is Chair of the Finance Committee for Pan Am Games Toronto 2015, an Advisory Committee member on the Women in Capital Markets Advisory Council, member of the Rotman School of Management – Financial Services Advisory Board, a member of the SickKids Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the London School of Economics, North American Advisory Board.

Professor Calder is the Entrepreneur in Residence and Adjunct Professor and Chair of Desautels Centre for Integrative Thinking at Rotman where he conducts the award-winning course, GettingItDone®. He was the founding Chair of the Rotman International Centre for Pension Management. He also serves as the Director of EllisDon Construction, Equity Financial Trust Co. and FirstService Corp. Brendan served as the Chair, President and CEO of CIBC Mortgages from 1995 to 2000. He also served as Chair of TIFF and of the Peter F. Drucker Canadian Foundation.
