What is the Buddy Program?
The Buddy Program provides new incoming students the opportunity to be paired up with a 2nd year “Buddy”. The 2nd Year Buddy will answer questions and provide insights on student life, life in Toronto, professional development, or academics to help with the transition into the MBA program.
What is the objective of the Buddy Program?
Deciding to do an MBA or to return to school for a graduate degree is a big milestone, but that process is also accompanied with a lot of change personally and professionally. The intent of the Buddy Program is to ensure that new students have a great on boarding experience at Rotman and to help ease the stress that may come with transitioning into the MBA program. In addition, the Buddy Program is a great way to make a new friend, and we are all for creating great friendships, deepening our community, and expanding our networks at Rotman.
How does the Buddy Program work?
All incoming students and 2nd Year Buddies will receive a comprehensive survey to complete in July. The survey must be completed by the deadline in order to participate in the Buddy Program. The Buddy Manager will then use the surveys to match 1st Year students with 2nd Year Buddies based on commonalities, similarities, interests and any other indicators of compatibility. All Buddy Program participants will receive an email informing them of their match in August.
Buddy Program Expectations, Training, and Commitment
All 2nd Year Buddies will receive comprehensive training to help ensure a successful Buddy Program and a consistent experience. 2nd Year Buddies will be responsible for reaching out to their assigned 1st Year student at specific checkpoints throughout the school year. However, a great friendship goes both ways and 1st Year students are encouraged to reach out and maintain contact with their 2nd Year Buddy during the year as well.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Buddy Manager, Marie Daley.
