The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management is launching a brand new master’s program with the inaugural class starting next September. If you have an undergraduate degree, strong analytical skills, and are keen to jump start your career in risk management and trading, the Master of Financial Risk Management, MFRM for short, is for you. My name is Elma Castillo, Assistant Director, Recruitment and Admissions for the MFRM program. I’m so pleased to be able to share details of this exciting new program with you.

What is the Master of Financial Risk Management?

The MFRM is an 8-month full-time, pre-experience program that is designed to fast track your career into risk management and trading.

A bridge between your academic and professional life, the MFRM will set you up for success in the industry. Two. Rotman’s globally-renowned faculty, whose knowledge of this topic is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. You’ll learn from seasoned industry professionals and prominent academics such as Peter Christoffersen, John  Hull, Tom McCurdy and Alan White. Three: Prominent members of the finance industry at Rotman. You’ll be exposed to faculty like Richard Nesbitt, who is also the former COO of CIBC, and the school’s Dean Tiff Macklem, former Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, among other industry executives.

Where?

The MFRM program takes place at the Rotman School of Management at the downtown St. George campus of the University of Toronto. The University of Toronto is ranked Canada’s top university in Canada (2015 Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings) and Rotman is in the top 10 in finance in the world (Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2015). The university’s only a short distance away from Bay Street and to the headquarters of all the top financial firms in the country.

When?

The inaugural MFRM class will commence September 2016, finishing in April 2017. We’re now recruiting for the inaugural class for this exciting new program. We are also thrilled to announce that the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services (GRI) has agreed to support student scholarships and co-curricular activities that enhance student’s ability to connect with practitioners and industry experts.     I’m a grduate of Central University College from Ghana. I have a BSC Degree in Banking and Finance.
