Sohan Ahmed<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p><\/div>

Professionally, Sohan has worked in the oil and gas industry as a reservoir engineer and then as a production engineering technical team lead for oilfield assets in offshore Newfoundland, Canada and onshore Texas, United States. His work primarily revolved around reservoir and wellbore hydraulics modeling, asset operations, rig scheduling and project economics. Additionally, he was an instructor for principles of Well Testing for early career professionals in the petroleum industry. Now pivoting to a career in management consulting in energy, he is deeply interested in operations and supply chain management to help the world meet its growing energy demand.<\/span><\/p>

What are your hobbies?<\/b><\/p>

Outside work, Sohan enjoys automotive journals, commercial aviation, mountaineering and cross-country motorcycling besides volunteering at a food bank.<\/span><\/p>

What’s your best experience with ROMA?<\/strong><\/p>

<\/b>A second year Full Time MBA student at the Rotman School of Management with a love for Operations Management and Statistics, I saw ROMA as one of the clubs instrumental in igniting my passion for supply chain management and the science of operations. The world today is a web of complex processes that do not work in silos, but are interdependent for human survival and growth. And ROMA brought this learning together in a fun way – from industry networking events to on-site tours, breweries and fulfilment centers alike.<\/span><\/p>

Before coming to Rotman, I was a trained translator and worked as a project and account manager in several translation firms. As AI began reshaping the industry, I recognized the challenges ahead and decided to pivot while keeping one core principle intact: helping clients make smarter decisions through more efficient, optimized processes<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

What are your hobbies?<\/b><\/p>

\u00a0I am a rock climber. On weekends, you can often find me exploring North America\u2019s great nature and climbing outdoors.<\/span><\/p>

What’s your best experience with ROMA?<\/strong><\/p>

<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>I love the close-knit community that ROMA fosters. From the very first kickoff, I was drawn to this warm atmosphere and have had the pleasure of meeting many amazing people who support one another and make this community feel like home.<\/span><\/p>

What is one tip you have for the incoming class?<\/b><\/p>

There will be moments in the first year when you doubt yourself or feel like you are an imposter. But these moments will pass, and you\u2019re here because you\u2019ve earned your place and deserve to be.<\/span><\/p>

I bring a few years of experience in technology consulting roles focused on transformation project management and supply chain strategy mainly in retail. These experiences sparked my interest in operations, particularly how technology and data can improve decision-making and operational efficiency.<\/p>

What’s your best experience with ROMA?<\/strong><\/p>

<\/b>One highlight of my experience with ROMA has been the opportunity to connect with alumni and industry professionals through events and networking sessions. Hearing about their career paths and experiences has helped me better understand the different directions an MBA can lead to. These conversations have been valuable in providing practical insights beyond the classroom and helping me think more clearly about my own career goals.<\/p>

What is one tip you have for the incoming class?<\/b><\/p>

My advice for the incoming class is to stay open to new experiences and take advantage of the many opportunities available at Rotman. Attend events, talk to people from different industries, and don\u2019t hesitate to explore areas that are unfamiliar.<\/p>

I have worked in the music electronics space for four years as an embedded systems engineer, a role where supply chains and procurement from vendors plays an important part. I have a BSc from the University of Toronto as well as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and through my MBA studies I am looking forward towards learning how to solve the operational challenges of modern businesses.\u00a0<\/p>

What are your hobbies?<\/b><\/p>

I enjoy playing classical piano and organ, as well as working on my Latin fluency by reading ancient texts. Volleyball and hiking mountain landscapes are pleasures for me as well.<\/p>

Finding a community of great people and a strong career network with like-minded alumni.\u00a0<\/p>

What is one tip you have for the incoming class?<\/b><\/p>

Your first semester is absolutely the most important – focus on grades, attend club events, apply to the very first postings on RCareer. In second year, no matter your background, get involved, join student clubs, and most importantly, take leadership courses!\u00a0<\/p>

I am currently a Project Manager at Pratt & Whitney Canada, where I lead large-scale capital projects focused on turbo-engine test cells and advanced aerospace testing systems. My work involves managing complex engineering initiatives, optimizing operational infrastructure, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver critical technical programs. Earlier in my career, I gained experience in the manufacturing and oil and gas industries, which shaped my interest in operations and large-scale industrial systems. Alongside my professional role, I am pursuing my MBA in the Morning & Evening program at the Rotman School of Management, where I am particularly interested in Operations strategy and Finance.<\/p>

What are your hobbies?<\/b><\/p>

I enjoy following sports such as football and cricket and am a big fan of Formula 1 racing. In my free time, I enjoy collecting and repairing watches, particularly restoring vintage timepieces and giving them a new life.<\/p>

<\/b>One of the best aspects of being part of ROMA has been connecting with classmates and professionals who share a passion for operations and problem-solving, especially during events like Industry Night.<\/p>

Take advantage of opportunities beyond the classroom. Participating in case competitions, student clubs, and networking events can significantly enrich your MBA experience and help you build meaningful connections with peers and industry professionals.<\/p>

Hi, I\u2019m Coco, a second-year MBA student in the Engineering & MBA joint program. I studied Mechanical Engineering at U of T and have worked as both a student engineer and a marketing strategy associate in the construction industry. I enjoy analytical problem solving and using data to optimise processes, so operations seemed like a good fit.<\/span><\/p>

What are your hobbies?<\/b><\/p>

Outside of school, I enjoy creating both traditional and digital art, collecting plushies and watching musicals. I\u2019m also an animal lover and enjoy sketching pet portraits for friends.<\/p>

What’s your best experience with ROMA?<\/strong><\/p>

<\/b>My best experience with ROMA has been the people. Coming in with no background in business or operations, I\u2019ve learned so much through events and case competitions. Everyone is passionate, approachable, and eager to help, which makes getting involved both fun and educational.<\/p>

What is one tip you have for the incoming class?<\/b><\/p>

Take advantage of every opportunity to explore. Clubs are a great way to get involved, but don\u2019t feel like you need to sign up for everything. Extra-curricular activities offer learning opportunities you won\u2019t find in the classroom and a great chance to bond with wonderful folks. Above all, be authentic, kind and curious. It will make the experience more meaningful and rewarding.<\/p>

My engineering background and leadership experience enable me to approach complex business challenges with a strategic, end-to-end business perspective. I recharge through regular exercise and hiking scenic trails. I also enjoy exploring new technologies, diving into data analytics projects, and learning languages, which keep me curious and adaptable.<\/span><\/p>

<\/b>One highlight was representing Rotman in the ASCM case competition on inventory management and investment. Collaborating with classmates from diverse professional backgrounds pushed us to think creatively and approach operational issues from multiple angles. We developed innovative, practical solutions while learning from one another\u2019s expertise. The networking sessions added another layer of value, connecting with industry professionals and expanding my understanding of the varied and impactful roles within operations management.<\/span><\/p>

What is one tip you have for the incoming class?<\/b><\/p>

Your first year will be full of challenges, and it\u2019s normal to feel overwhelmed or experience imposter syndrome. Give yourself permission to pause and recharge, but always come back ready to tackle what\u2019s ahead.
