About

Bloomberg is a platform that provides real-time financial market data, including price quotes, news, and analytics, with a unique system interface. Users are welcome to browse the Bloomberg help document above for more information on BMC (Bloomberg Market Concepts) and Support.

Access

Bloomberg Terminal is accessible in person from the physical computers located at the three campuses. The Bloomberg Terminals at the St George Campus are located in the FRT-Lab (Rotman School of Management, Room 290 North Building) and Milt Harris Library (Rotman School of Management, 5th Floor South Building).

How to create an account

    1. You will need to have your mobile phone with you,

    2. Double-click on the Bloomberg icon on your computer desktop,

    3. Click on the blue link. Press Enter or <GO> to Login and then on Create a New Login,

    4. Answer the questions and fill in the relevant information on each page, then click on 1) Continue to move on.

    5. Provide your current cellular phone number and your UofT email address.

    6. Select the telephone number where you want to receive your verification text message and then click on 1) Send Code.

    7. Allow up to 5 minutes for the verification code to be sent to your mobile phone. If you do not receive it after 5 minutes, click on the <MENU> to Return button at the top of the screen and try again.

    8. Please keep a safe record of your login name.

    9. Once you have logged in type HELP in one of the Bloomberg windows and press <ENTER> to reach the Getting Started with Bloomberg page.

    10. Then go to BPS EDUCATION <ENTER> and click on Education User Guide for comprehensive instructions on how to use the Bloomberg Professional service.

    11. Hitting the <HELP> key once on your keyboard while on any Bloomberg screen will provide you with steps on how to use the functionality.

Bloomberg Certificate

Bloomberg for Education offers a series of credentials that will boost your knowledge and strengthen your job applications. These e-learning courses provide a self-paced, interactive way to explore different areas of finance deeply. Upon finishing each program, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can promote on your LinkedIn, resume, and CV. Bloomberg offers certification in two programs: Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) and Bloomberg Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).

  •  BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab work with Bloomberg to offer Bloomberg Certificates to waive the fee, so the certification programs are available for free, and the programs can be accessed remotely.
