Overview

The BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab is pleased to Introduce the Bloomberg ESG Certificate and Bloomberg Market Concept (BMC) offered by Bloomberg for Education.

The training and certification are free of charge for Rotman Commerce and Rotman School of Management Students.

The Bloomberg certification is a self-paced, interactive e-learning course that Introduces learners to the platform using various Bloomberg functions and Finance-related topics remotely and shows learners how to implement ESG strategies and prepare ESG reports for regulators through the lens of a fictitious buy-side asset management firm.

Bloomberg for Education offers a series of credentials that will boost your knowledge and strengthen your job applications. These e-learning courses provide a self-paced, interactive way to explore different areas of finance deeply. Upon finishing each program, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can promote on your LinkedIn, resume, and CV. Bloomberg offers certification in two programs: Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) and Bloomberg Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).

Rotman students will have access to the certificates for free using Bloomberg Terminal or the Bloomberg for Education website to complete both the BMC and ESG certificates online.

Bloomberg ESG Certificate

Self-paced, interactive e-learning course that shows learners how to implement ESG strategies and prepare ESG reports for regulators through the lens of a fictitious buy-side asset management firm.

Bloomberg ESG Certificate is a 7-hour self-paced, interactive e-learning course that shows learners how to implement ESG strategies and prepare ESG reports for regulators through the lens of a fictitious buy-side asset management firm. By completing this certification, you will be able to explain ESG trends and common ESG investment strategies, understand the influences of shareholder activism on corporate behaviour, and make ESG investment decisions.

You’ll follow practitioners at the firm as they launch new ESG products to meet client demand and implement ESG strategies into their investment process.

By taking the certificate, you will:

    • Describe ESG trends and common ESG investment strategies.
    • Explain how shareholder activism influences corporate behaviour
    • Practice tasks within various stages of the investment process

The certification is available through the Bloomberg Terminal at BCER <GO> or through the Bloomberg for Education website.

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC)

Self-paced e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets. BMC consists of 3 sections — Core Concepts (includes four modules – Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities), Getting Started on the Terminal and Portfolio Management. The sections are woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television.

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is a library of e-learning courses that teaches you about financial markets and how to use Bloomberg to access information about them. BMC has eight available course modules, which take approximately 16 hours to complete. It covers Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities, Terminal Basics, Portfolio Management, Stock Options, and Commodities.

The certification is available through the Bloomberg Terminal at BMC <GO> or through the Bloomberg for Education website.

The training and certification are free of charge for Rotman Commerce and Rotman School of Management Students.
