Orientation Camp: A Success

  • by
Last August 31 to Sept 2, in Camp Winnebagoe in Muskoka, 2nd year Rotman MBA students hosted the Orientation Camp 2018 for all the first year MBAs. It was the singular opportunity to form deep personal lasting connections between first years across sections before the busyness of Term 1 kicks-in. It was also a chance for newcomers to Canada to experience Canada’s famed Cottage Country – thankfully they saw it in all its glory as the sun was out all weekend! Throughout the weekend, the incoming class participated in classic camp activities from canoeing, basketball, rock climbing, archery and evening bonfires to team building games such as “Tanks”, Egg Drop and “Wizards, Dragons and Trolls”.
We also learned that the Class of 2020 is incredibly talented! On Saturday evening, we hosted a Variety Show, in which we learned that the class is full of artists – talented singers, guitarists and tap dancers! We even discovered that we have our very own “David Blaine” style magicians in the class! Swallowing needles and threading them in your mouth? No problem! They strongly recommended we don’t try this at home. Needless to say, I don’t think anyone will! The weekend was a fun-filled event full of laughter, smiles and community building activities that enabled first year MBAs to get to know each other in a fun, social and outdoor setting without the burden of academic requirements or the pressure of evaluation from the school. Thank you Class of 2020 for hanging out with us for the weekend – it was a pleasure to get to know you!Go to Rotman GBC’s FB page to see the O-camp photos.
