Health Sector Management Emphasis

Specializing in Healthcare at Rotman

Building a Healthcare Focused MBA

Rotman gives you real room to specialise in healthcare. Between targeted electives, faculty who research the sector, and a dedicated research centre, you can graduate with a course load and network built around where you want to go. This page shows you how to put that together.

How to build your course load

STEP 1 — START WITH THE CORE
In your first year, use the core courses to build the analytical and strategic foundation every healthcare path draws on.

STEP 2 —  PAIR ACADEMICS WITH EXPERIENCE
Don't wait until electives to get involved. Case competitions, HMA events, and internships build your track record alongside your coursework from the start, not after it.

STEP 3 — CONNECT WITH FACULTY AND THE CENTRE
Get to know the faculty working on health sector strategy and engage with the Sandra Rotman Centre's events and research.

STEP 4 — LAYER IN HEALTHCARE ELECTIVES
In your second year, add healthcare and life-sciences electives, and declare the Health Sector Management emphasis: five half-courses (2.5 FCEs), with at least two from the designated list of main courses. Course offerings change year to year, so check the link below for the current list.
