Take HMA Beyond Rotman
The Sandra Rotman Centre for Health Sector Strategy supports HMA members attending select healthcare case competitions and conferences throughout the year. For 2026/27, the Centre is topping up the School’s standard financial support by $500, for a total of $1,000 per person, for the events listed below. This subsidy is meant to help offset the cost of participating, not cover it in full. See the School’s financial aid page for details on the base funding this tops up.
Case Competitions
10th Annual Robbins Case Competition in Healthcare Management
Waco, Texas · October 14–16, 2026
Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, Baylor University
Teams get the case Thursday morning and present in preliminary panels Friday, with the top three advancing to a final round and awards ceremony that afternoon. The competition has a distinct financial and quantitative focus, cases center on the numbers behind a healthcare management decision, not just the strategy. Participation is by invitation only, with just twelve teams competing each year.
Prizes: $12,000 total for first place, $8,000 for second, $4,000 for third, plus $1,500 for Best Presenter, and $1,500 for Best Q&A

Business School Alliance for Health Management (BAHM) Case Competition

Teams compete on a real healthcare business challenge set by that year’s sponsor and host school, which rotates annually. The 2026 competition focused on medical price transparency, with teams designing consumer-facing solutions to make pricing easier to access. Past participants have met directly with people shaping U.S. health policy, including representatives from Congress, the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and CMS.
Prizes: up to $11,000 across first, second, and third place

Kellogg Biotech and Healthcare Case Competition

Kellogg Global Hub, Northwestern University
Teams work through two rounds, a written analysis followed by an in-person final, tackling a new, complex healthcare question each year. The 2026 case asked teams to assess whether a medical device company should enter the orthopedic market. Now in its 26th year, it’s one of the oldest and most prestigious healthcare case competitions in the world, drawing more than 80 team applications in 2026 alone.
Prizes: $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second, $1,000 for third

Yale Healthcare Services & Innovation Case Competition

Yale School of Management
Teams pitch strategic solutions to a real business challenge set by that year’s corporate sponsor. The 2026 competition partnered with Integrated Dermatology, a physician-support organization, on a challenge tied to their business. It’s entirely student-led, giving competitors direct exposure to a live corporate sponsor’s actual business problem rather than a hypothetical case.
Prizes (most recent cycle): $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second, $2,500 for third

UNC Business of Healthcare Conference: Strategic Healthcare Workforce of the Future

UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School — hosted by the Center for the Business of Health, part of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise
A one-day conference focused on the healthcare workforce, covering staffing shortages and how health systems plan for their future talent needs. Full program details haven’t been posted yet. It’s hosted by the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, giving it a market-based, policy-oriented lens distinct from most healthcare conferences.

Run by the HBS Healthcare Club, covering the tools and technologies shaping how prevalent diseases are treated. The 2026 conference was themed “At the Tipping Point: Transforming the Care of Prevalent Disease,” with panels on cardiometabolic health, neurodegeneration, and digital health. Now in its 22nd year, it’s one of the longest-running student-organized healthcare conferences in the MBA world.

Now in its 16th year, it’s drawn speakers including two former U.S. Secretaries of Health and Human Services.

Run by the Stanford GSB Health Care Club, part of the school’s broader healthcare programming, which spans coursework in health information technology, biodesign, and strategic change in healthcare organizations. Specific 2027 conference programming hasn’t been announced yet. It’s one of the largest healthcare gatherings in the MBA world, drawing 1,000+ attendees from across healthcare, medicine, and policy each year.
