FAQ

Who is eligible to apply?

We welcome all women undergraduate students from the University of Toronto to apply as mentees and Rotman School of Management graduate students (full-time and part-time) to apply as mentors.

How long is the mentorship program?

Each LINKS season runs for 1 academic year, so we would like to ask that students commit to investing into their mentor-mentee pairing for that time. After the conclusion of each season, each mentor-mentee pair is welcome to continue their mentorship relationship outside the LINKS program if they desire. Each individual mentor / mentee is also welcome to reapply for the LINKS program in the following year to be matched to a new mentor / mentee.

How are the mentees and mentors matched?

Upon application to the LINKS program, each mentor and mentee will be asked to fill out a questionnaire to facilitate the matching process. LINKS will then pair up mentors and mentees based on criteria such as field of study and industry interest to ensure that each mentee is paired up with a mentor who has aligned interests / experiences.

How often do I meet with my mentor?

This is completely up to the individual mentor-mentee pairings. We would like to suggest that each pair meet once a month initially (e.g. for coffee or lunch) and adjust the frequency as needed.

What is the expectation for mentors?

Mentors are expected to meet and provide advice on searching for jobs, thinking about career options, and networking, and eventually potentially supporting resume reviews. It is very flexible and LINKS will provide suggested topics to cover.

Are there any LINKS events during the year?

An initial kick-off event will be held to reveal the new mentor-mentee pairings and additional events may be scheduled during the year as well.
