What I wish I had known at the beginning of first year: Some unrelated tips: 1) Get a few sets of eyes on your resume ASAP. The resume book is distributed pretty soon after the start of the program; 2) Don’t get so fixated on your GPA. Yes, higher is nice, but bumping it a few points likely won’t move the needle in the grand scheme of things. Plus, GPA is just one of a series of factors firms consider. 3) Make social time outside of school a priority!

What I wish I had known at the beginning of first year:
Sanchaita Kohli, VP Industry Relations

The challenges she met along the way fueled her passion towards solving different business problems to help curate socially responsible solutions. Ask me about: I enjoy exploring the art and culture of different cities around the world, and you’d often find me curled up reading about history and politics. Love to write, love to dance and love to try new things when I get the chance!
Favorite TV Show: I can watch Friends countless times!
What I wish I had known at the beginning of first year:Coming into the program, like most of us, I tried to do it all. Rotman offers so many remarkable learning, networking and leadership opportunities. It becomes very tempting to try everything that seems interesting, especially since we all are intellectually curious people. Making long lists of things to do and complete everyday resulted in a lot of days full of anxiety and disappointment. So I wish I had known that it’s OK to strike off just 2 or 3 top things from my list and be comfortable with leaving some things undone. Golden rule: Prioritize your commitments well!

What I wish I had known at the beginning of first year: In the MBA journey, resilience is vital as it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t hesitate to seek help when needed and don’t doubt yourself; setbacks are opportunities for growth. Learning from and leaning on each other fosters community strength. Embrace the challenges and the learning experience, while also nurturing valuable professional relationships. And amidst the hustle, never forget to prioritize self-care. With resilience, support, meaningful connections and a well-rounded approach, the journey can be a memorable and fulfilling experience.
