Monitor Deloitte is the name of the corporate strategy service line within the strategy and operations practice in the Deloitte consulting business.
Deloitte is one of the ‘big-4’ accounting audit firms in Canada, and has a comprehensive offering of consulting services to provide to clients. With the acquisition of Monitor group in 2013, they have gained some advantages from the boutique strategy firm.
MD Canada is based out of Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver and has approximately 150 practitioners total. The Toronto office is the largest, and works out of two main offices: 30 Wellington (legacy Deloitte) and 100 Simcoe (legacy Monitor). Deloitte Canada will be the lead tenant in the new Bay-Adelaide centre in late 2016, where all Deloitte employees will be consolidated.
The position structure is as follows:
Business Analyst – previously entry level hired from undergrad
Consultant – new entry level from undergrad
Senior Consultant – MBA entry level
Manager
Senior Manager
Partner – MD has mostly equity partners and a few income partners

Monitor Deloitte typically hires MBAs from Ivey, Schulick, and Rotman. MBAs with some work experience are usually hired into the ‘senior consultant’ position.
The typical recruiting structure is as follows:
1st round:
- 1 verbal case (30 min)
- 1 written case (30 min to prepare, 30 min to present)
- 1 behavioural interview (30 min)
2nd round:
- 1 group case (3 h)
- 4 behavioural interviews (30 min each with partners and senior managers)
