2. Video Interview & Creating Your Video Introduction with Ross MacPherson

January 16th, 3:30 to 6 pm – RSVP in RCareer!

FACT: In today’s job market, many companies are using video interviewing platforms as part of their recruiting process (eg. EY Canada, Scotiabank, RBC, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Tim Hortons, and many others). In addition, they’re not just using video at the interview stage…they’re now using video at the application stage and applying cognitive assessment software on the back-end to analyze your responses. It’s a game changer and requires specific insight and specific strategies to win.

We’ve invited two experts, Catharine Fennell, CEO of videoBIO and branding expert Ross Macpherson, President of Career Quest, to help you become “video ready” whether for a video interview OR in creating your individual video bio (an introduction you can use in your networking efforts and a complement to your resume that may be used by the Career Centre to highlight you to employers).

3. Two Hour Jobs Search (Part 2)

January 15th, 6 to 8 pm in the Desautels Hall

Forbes Magazine described the 2-Hour Job Search as “one of the best books to boost your career”.

Hiring managers increasingly rely on referrals to avoid reviewing hundreds of resumes per posting. However, job seekers crave the perceived efficiency that an online jobsite offers, pouring countless hours into an inherently ineffective approach.

The 2-Hour Job Search workshop offers step-by-step, time-limited instructions for the most frustrating part of finding work — getting a first interview. This science-based process splits the job search into manageable pieces, using tools like Excel, LinkedIn and Google, each requiring at most 15 minutes, to help those looking for work conduct the best job search possible.

Steve Dalton is a senior career consultant and Associate Director at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He holds his own MBA from the same institution and a chemical engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University. Prior to entering the career services industry, Dalton was an associate marketing manager at General Mills and a strategy consultant at A.T. Kearney.

You can access the 2-Hour Job Search book through Rotman’s Business Information Centre (BIC) or through Amazon, or download.
