Step 1

Download the RIT Market Simulator User Application msi

Step 2

Check your Microsoft Office build version (either 32-bit or 64-bit). To do so, follow the steps below:

1. Open Microsoft Excel
2. Click on “File,” then “Account.”
3. Click on “About Excel”

Please note that the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions refer to your Microsoft Office versions, not your Windows version. If you are not sure which version to download, please refer to the RIT – Client and RTD Installation Instructions for detailed instructions on how to install the RIT Market Simulator client and the RTD Links.

For details on how to link real-time data from the RIT Market Simulator in Excel, please follow the instructions contained in the RIT – User Guide – RTD Documentation.

Minimum system requirements

RIT 2.0 uses Microsoft .NET 4.8 Framework. Most windows operating systems already have it installed by default, so you do not need to install it separately. However, if you are having trouble installing or running RIT after installing it from the link above, please try to install/update .NET 4 and then try again.

Mac users: Installing Virtual Machine (VMware) on MacBook

RIT 2.0 must be downloaded on a Windows machine. Mac users can install a virtual lab on their computer for free. Simply register and download the latest build from the download portal at VMware website. This free offering includes the full set of features in VMware Fusion Pro, previously only available through a paid subscription. Users can now enjoy enhanced graphics, seamless integration, and powerful performance without any cost.

Instructions

Registration and Download:

- Visit (https://support.broadcom.com/group/ecx/productdownloads?subfamily=VMware+Fusion).
- Register for a free account if you don’t already have one.
- Navigate to the download section and select the latest build of VMware Fusion Pro for Mac.

Installation.

- Download the installer file for VMware Fusion Pro.
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Setup Virtual Machines:

- Launch VMware Fusion Pro from your Applications folder.
- Open VMware Fusion and go to File, New.
- Or, click on the VMware Fusion menu icon and click on “Create New Virtual Machine”.
- Click on “Get Windows from Microsoft”.
- Click on Continue.
- Select Professional from “Windows Edition” and click Download Windows.
- This will download an ISO file, which is a couple of gigabytes. Make sure you have a decent internet connection.
- Once the download is complete, you should see a path to the file and click on Continue.

4. Configure VMware Fusion Virtual Machine

- Select UEFI as the boot firmware and click on Continue.
- Set a password for encryption. This can be a custom password or use the “Auto Generate Password” button.
- Once a password has been added, click on Continue.
- Select “Create a new virtual disk” from “Choose a virtual disk option” and click Continue.
- Confirm the virtual machine summary and click on Finish.
- Select a location and save your virtual machine.

Network administrators

RIT 2.0 uses the Microsoft Click-Once application for deployment and updates. The software automatically checks for updates each time it is launched and saves all data, including the application, on the local user profile. Demonstration server

To see the RIT Market Simulator in action, users can follow the appropriate links below to download the RIT Market Simulator Client Application, install the software on their PC, and connect to a demonstration server hosted by the Rotman School of Management.
