Below are descriptions of the awards available to MBA students, listing specific eligibility requirements and award criteria. The majority of awards offered through the Rotman School are available to both domestic and international students, unless noted otherwise. All awards consider academic merit; some awards also require applicants to demonstrate financial need. Please note that award values are approximate. Alvaro Mallarino, In Black and White Real Estate Team Scholarship
Value: $2,500
This is awarded to a continuing Full-Time MBA student from Latin America. The students must have demonstrated extraordinary involvement in the Rotman community. Selections will also be based on academic merit.
Andrew Alexander Kinghorn Award
Value: $2,000
This is awarded to the student (domestic or international) with the highest academic performance in the core courses of the Full-Time MBA program.
Andrew Alexander Kinghorn Fellowships
Value: $500 (each)
This is awarded to students (domestic or international) who ranked in the top 10% in the class after the completion of the core courses of the Full-Time MBA program.
The Birch Hill Equity Partners Award at the Rotman School of Management
Value: $6,000
Awarded to a domestic student in the Full-Time MBA program on the basis of:
- Financial need; and
- Preference to students who have excelled in the areas of finance and investment management as demonstrated by academic standing and work experience

BMO GATE MBA Fellowships at the University of Toronto
Value: $10,000 each
Awarded to 5 Upper-Year MBA students in the Full-Time, and Morning or Evening MBA programs on the basis of:
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to issues relating to Gender and The Economy;
- Academic merit
Bradley David Griffiths Memorial Scholarship at the Rotman School
Value: $60,000 total
Established in memory of Toronto Financier and University of Toronto alumnus Bradley David Griffiths (BCom ’79), this is awarded to multiple domestic students in the Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA program on the basis of:
- Financial need and academic merit;
- Demonstrated leadership experience;
- Background in or interest in a career pursuing Finance, Investment Banking, or Energy; and
- Ontario residency
Note: this award is also open to students continuing in the MBA program. Entering student applications will be assessed along with continuing student applications.

Carol Perry Scholarship in Health Sector Management
Value: $3,900 total
To be awarded to an Upper-Year student in the Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA program on the basis of:
- Domestic female student;
- Interest in management of healthcare delivery systems as demonstrated through their elective course enrolment, internship and/or work experience; and
- Academic Merit
Class of 1997 Scholarship
Value: $1,100 each
Awarded to two upper-year students in the Full-Time, or Morning or Evening MBA programs on the basis of:
- Having made outstanding contributions to the Rotman community through leadership and commitment to excellence;
- Financial need;
- Must meet OSOTF Ontario residency requirements; and
- Academic merit will also be considered
Class of 2002 Scholarship MBA Award
Value: $1,725 total
Awarded to one or two Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA upper-year students on the basis of:
- Outstanding contributions to Rotman and the wider community that have enhanced the Rotman experience of their peers, detailed in online application and cover letter;
- Preference to students who have not received other Rotman awards in aggregate exceeding $10,000 per year; and
- Financial need
Class of 2003 Trayten Jensen Memorial Award
Value: $2,900
Established by the MBA Class of 2003 and the family of Trayten Jensen, this award is given to a domestic Full-Time MBA with outstanding contributions to the Rotman and/or wider community, detailed in online application and cover letter, and on the basis of:
- Financial need;
- Academic merit; and
- Must meet OSOTF II/OTSS conditions
Dean’s List
No monetary value
This award recognizes students (domestic or international) who ranked in the top 11-20% of their class after completing the core courses of the Full-Time (FT); Morning and Evening MBA (ME); and Master of Finance (MFIN) programs.
Dean’s List, First Class
Value: $500
This award recognizes students (domestic or international) who ranked in the top 10% in the class after the completion of the core courses of the Morning and Evening (ME) MBA and Master of Finance (MFIN) programs.
Dean’s List, With Distinction
Value: $2,000
This award recognizes the student (domestic or international) who achieved the highest GPA in the class after the completion of the core courses of the Morning and Evening (ME) MBA and Master of Finance (MFIN) programs.
The Dori Segal/First Capital Real Estate Award
Value: $25,000 each for two students
To be awarded to students in the Full-Time MBA program on the basis of:
- Academic Merit
- Specialization in Real Estate in their second year of study
Duncan Taylor Memorial Award

This is awarded to the student (domestic or international) from the Full-Time, Morning and Evening MBA program earning the highest standing in RSM2129 Forecasting Models and Econometric Methods.
EMBA 25 Graduate Scholarship
Value: $8,000
Awarded to an Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA student who has demonstrated a commitment to the not-for-profit sector. Academic Merit will be considered. Financial Need may also be considered.
The George C. Vilim Scholarship in Effective Management
Value: $5,800
Awarded to a Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA student (domestic or international) on the basis of:
- Achievement or enrolment in RSM2913 Getting It Done®; and
- Academic standing from the first year(s) of the MBA program
Gordon F. Cheesbrough MBA Graduate Fellowship
Value: $3,000
Awarded to a (domestic or international) Full-Time, Morning and Evening (Upper-Year only) MBA student:
- Preferably with experience and/or interest in ethics and/or corporate social responsibility; or secondly finance, detailed in online application and cover letter

Honourable John Dawson Ground Prize in Leadership and Ethics
Value: $500
This is awarded to the JD/MBA student with the highest grade in RSM 1160 Ethics and highest overall academic performance in the first year of the MBA program.
Ike Justin Kaja Memorial Scholarship
Value: $2,000
Awarded to an Upper-Year student in the Full-Time MBA program on the basis of:
- Course enrolment indicating an emphasis in Finance
- Demonstrated leadership and community involvement
- Financial need
- Academic Merit
- Preference to a Black International student
The International Student Fellowship
Value: $9,000 each
Awarded to international Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA students (assessed international program fees) on the basis of:
- Academic performance in the MBA;
- Financial need; and
- Demonstrated leadership contributions to the Rotman community

- Must be on a study permit and assessed international fees for the academic year in which the award is held
John A. Rogers Award in Leadership
Value: up to $12,000 each
Awarded to up to two Upper-Year students in the Full-Time, Morning and Evening MBA programs on the basis of:
- Demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership;
- Course enrolment indicating an emphasis in Leadership; and
- Academic merit will be considered

John H. Watson Scholarship in Value Investing

- Preference given to candidates who have completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or CFA

Landrich Scholarship

This award will go to a domestic student in a publicly-funded master’s level Rotman on the basis of:
- Preference to a student with a mobility impairment; secondly to a student with another type of disability;
- Financial need; and
- Ontario resident
Note: This award is also open to students all of the Rotman School’s publicly-funded master’s level programs. All student applications will be assessed alongside each other.
The Leacross Foundation Award for Women at the Rotman School of Management
Value: $16,450 each
Award will go to female students (domestic or international) in the MBA, Master of Finance, Master of Financial Risk Management, or Master of Management Analytics programs who meet the following criteria:
- Financial need;
- Experience, interest, or leadership in sectors in which women are under-represented; and
- Academic merit

Leelah Dawson Scholarship for Excellence & Leadership
Value: $2,500
To be awarded to women in Master of Finance, Full-Time MBA, and Morning and Evening MBA programs on the basis of:
- Demonstrated leadership in the Rotman Community
- Academic merit: minimum 3.7 GPA
- Preference will be given to students emphasizing finance and/or quantitative studies
Lisa Hamann Memorial Award
Value: $1,750
Established by Ontario Hydro International Inc., this award will go to a female Full-Time, Morning and Evening MBA student (domestic or international) who meets the following criteria:
- Demonstrated leadership ability, detailed in online application and cover letter;
- Currently involved in extracurricular activities; detailed in on the online cover letter;
- Demonstrated interest in international studies, detailed in online application and cover letter;
- Assessed high academic standing from MBA (no need to submit grades); and
- Legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation
Lucio Cappola Memorial Scholarship in Leadership
Value: $5,000
Awarded to a continuing Full-Time, Morning or Evening MBA student (domestic) on the basis of:

Martin Ossip Scholarship at the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto
Value: $45,000 total
Awarded to domestic students who demonstrate outstanding contributions to the Jewish community and/or who exemplify ethics and values consistent with traditional Jewish faith and are in need of financial assistance.

Mary Jane Felker Fellowship
Value: $1,700
Awarded to an outstanding student (domestic or international) in the Full-Time MBA program who has made significant contributions to the Rotman community (detailed in the online application cover letter) and demonstrated academic merit.
Mary Verna Simmonds Rotman MBA Fellowship in Social Change
Value: $1,000
Recognizes outstanding Full-Time, Evening or Morning MBA students (domestic or international) with a demonstrated commitment to and rigorous understanding of one or more of the following areas: corporate social responsibility; corporate and global citizenship; non-profit and social enterprise; and/or social justice.

Master of Finance Director’s Continuing Scholarship
Value: $3,000
Awarded to the student who has demonstrated scholarly excellence in the seven courses completed in the first three academic terms of the program, and in consultation with the program directors.
MBA Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurs
Value: $17,000
Awarded to upper-year students in the Full-Time, Evening, Morning and Executive MBA programs on the basis of:
- Demonstrated enhanced commitment to and respect for social entrepreneurship;
- Intent to take an entrepreneurial approach to producing positive social change in their community or country; and
- Preference given to students with volunteer or work experience in the public and voluntary (not-for-profit) sector and/or are enrolled in the Sustainability and Society emphasis
Oded Raor Memorial Scholarship
Value: $2,500
Awarded to a first-year MBA student in the Full-Time, Morning or Evening MBA, EMBA, and GEMBA-HLS programs on the basis of:
- Academic merit;
- Financial need;
- Demonstrates outstanding leadership or contributions to the Jewish community and/or who exemplify ethics and values consistent with traditional Jewish faith and is need of financial assistance; and
- Preference given to students who have received other awards with an aggregate value less than $20,000 per year
Peter Godsoe / Scotiabank Scholarship in Financial Engineering

To be awarded to two entering and two returning domestic students in the Full Time, Evening or Morning MBA programs annually on the basis of:

Rip Gauthier Memorial Scholarship in Marketing
Value: $4,600
This award will go to a domestic Full-Time, Morning, or Evening MBA student who exhibits the maximum potential for leadership in the Marketing area. Recipients will be selected on the basis of:
- Academic excellence in MBA (no need to submit grades);
- Extracurricular activities in first year of MBA studies, detailed in online application and cover letter;
- Financial need; and
- Ontario residency

Risa Goldberg Memorial Scholarship for Women in Capital Markets at the Rotman School of Management
Value: $14,000
Established in memory of Risa Goldberg (MBA 08), a Rotman School of Management alumna, this scholarship will be awarded to an upper-year female student in the Full-Time MBA program who embodies Risa’s qualities. You may also find more information about Risa on the Scholarship’s Facebook page.
Eligibility
- Must self-identify as a female and be an upper-year student in the Full-Time MBA program at Rotman School of Management
- Must have academic excellence
- Must volunteer within their community and serve as a mentor
- Must have a diversified educational or professional background outside of a typical finance only focus
- Preference to students enrolled in multiple finance electives, with an intent to pursue a career in Capital Markets
Shortlisted candidates will interview with the Award Committee in early November.
Roger N. Wolff Prize
No monetary value
Awarded to the graduating MBA student (domestic or international) with the highest overall (program) GPA.
Rotman 2004 Non-Profit Internship Scholarship
Value: $2,800
Awarded to a domestic student in the Full-Time MBA program on the basis of a confirmed summer internship in the not-for-profit sector (Program Services will confirm with Career Centre); and:
- Financial need;
- Academic merit; and
- Must meet Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF II) / Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS) conditions
SAPNA Award
Value: $8,300
Awarded to a student entering the Full-Time, Morning or Evening MBA program and born in South Asia or Southeast Asia, with the preference being given to students born in India on the basis of:
- Financial need;
- Student will be paying domestic fees in the year the award is held;
- Student will have been granted Canadian citizenship, permanent resident, or protected person status more recently (within 5 years); and
- Preference to students with higher academic standing

TorQuest Scholars Award
Value: $12,500 each
To be awarded to one student of the Full-Time MBA student one JD/MBA student who are entering year two of the MBA program on the basis of:
- Academic excellence with minimum 3.50 GPA from core MBA curriculum (this is verified by the PSO; no need to submit grades);
- Demonstrated volunteer within his or her community (personal or professional);
- Intent to pursue career in private equity upon graduation; and
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview in the Fall with the Awards Selection Committee
Wellington Financial LP Award in Technology Evaluation and Analysis
Value: $2,100
Awarded to an international or domestic Full-Time MBA student on the basis of:
- Demonstrated interest in technology or experience in the venture space;
- Strong leadership skills; and
- Only available in odd numbered years
Women in Capital Markets – Heather L. Main Award
Value: $25,000 each for the final year of MBA plus a paid summer internship in the Capital Markets division at one of the participating financial institutions.
The Heather L. Main Memorial Scholarship Fund honours the memory of a trail blazing woman in Canadian capital markets. It was established in 1998 to promote the industry and to encourage qualified women, in participating Canadian graduate business schools, to pursue careers in the capital markets.
The scholarship, mentoring, and internship program builds the practical skills and experience necessary to launch a successful career in capital markets.
Scholarship Program Details
- $25,000 scholarship for the final year of MBA plus a paid summer internship in the Capital Markets division at one of the participating financial institutions
- Women’s leadership training
- Executive coaching
- Mentoring during internship and final year of studies
- One year complimentary student WCM membership
- Recipients will be announced at a major WCM event and profiled in WCM’s newsletter and website
- Successful scholarship winners will also be expected to promote WCM and the HLM Memorial Scholarship at their Universities and with their sponsoring summer employer
Eligibility
The Scholarship is open to female students who are:
- Enrolled in the first-year of the Full-Time MBA program or third-year in the combined JD/MBA program;
- Able to demonstrate her interest in pursuing a career in the Canadian Capital Markets;
- Able to demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and leadership capabilities; and
- Available to complete a 4-month summer internship during May–August prior to entering the final year or semester of the MBA or JD/MBA program
Shortlisted candidates will interview with the Rotman Award Committee in mid-October.
Women in Management (WIMA/WiMen) Scholarship
Value: $3,200 total
Awarded to students in the FT MBA program, who are members of the Women in Management Association (WIMA/WiMen) and have demonstrated a commitment to the association. Academic merit will also be considered.
