General Requirements

  • GPA is typically an important initial selection criteria for Capital Markets (sometimes may also be asked for academic record through undergrads)
  • Prior experience in a financial institution and/or specific industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of financial sector, main business activities of financial institutions and ability to keep abreast of changing accounting, legal and regulatory landscape
  • Interpersonal skills and developed relationship management skills in assisting internal groups and corporate clients
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels especially senior management and corporate clients
  • Ability to make decisions and appropriate recommendations to senior management & effectively support recommendations

Skills required

  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to take large amounts of data and to synthesize in a short/concise report
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, tight deadlines and excel under pressure in response to changing market conditions
  • Attention to detail, maintaining a high standard of work
  • Ambitious, highly intelligent, motivated, and confident
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Additional language skills ex: French or Spanish can be an asset, depending on the FI
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder (or in process)
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is recommended
  • Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) –courses including the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH)
  • GPA is important (Graduate and Undergraduate academic performance)
  • Willingness to work across time zone and long hours outside of the 9am-5pm work schedule
